Viper's story takes place along the same timeline as Fallout: New Vegas. While he is not The Courier, he is known as Ranger 13 due to the Vault 13 logo on the back of his duster.

Born in Arroyo, John Cole who later becomes known as The Viper, is the grandchild of The Chosen One. John often listened to tales of his grandfather's adventures until one day, his grandfather left to walk the Wasteland one last time before passing away. When John grew old enough, he would leave his home and head down into the Mojave Desert as he tried following his grandfather's footsteps. Eventually, John would join the New California Republic and take up the chance to fight against the raiders of the Mojave, working his way through the ranks and being one of the youngest members of the 1st Recon before volunteering to become a NCR Ranger. After the Bitter Springs Massacre, John would leave the NCR, practically disappearing into the desert and taking up the name of The Viper.
After leaving the NCR and under the name of Viper, John would join up with the Followers of the Apocalypse and further educate himself on ways to survive out in the Wasteland and to learn of the old world.

Present Day
Wandering Gunslinger known as Viper can be seen roaming the Mojave Desert wearing his NCR Veteran Ranger armor. He spends his time working as a lone ranger, independent of the NCR to help the settlements of the Mojave where NCR can not. Viper, or John Cole, does have his sights set on leaving the Mojave Desert, once he gets the caps and supplies he will need in order to explore the rest of the Wasteland, and maybe even eventually run into his grandfather.
While Viper is not officially part of the NCR, he does also take contracts from them as a private mercenary for them as well as assisting the Brotherhood of Steel or the Followers of the Apocalypse. Either way, Viper is constantly on the move and putting his gun skills to use.

Seems him and Janet have similar paths, wanting to follow in their family footsteps and all that. I'm sure we could easily work something out plot wise. Just need to figure out what sounds fun ha.
