Moving away from a life full of trauma and harassment is a difficult step to take, and Arthur is filled with nothing but fear for his future. In junior high he was bullied for his weight by everyone around him and quickly found that it was difficult to make friends with the added bonus of being the awkward, quiet kid who sat in the back. For several years he managed to scrape by and avoid being seen, but after one summer of stressful-binge eating, he came back to a torrent of attention -- none of it good. And the questionable lives of his parents stacked with the secrets he was forced to keep certainly didn't help.
Any social tendencies he'd had before were erased and he reclused even further into himself.
After turning fifteen and coming halfway through his first year of high school, Arthur knew it was time to make some changes. He hated how he felt and the way people would look at him, so the following summer he spent every moment trying to better his life. He moved schools, moved out of his parents house and found an apartment through a questionably kind family friend, and lost the weight he had been steadily putting on over the past years.
But the real battle didn't come with just losing weight. In the aftermath of practically starving himself to reach his personal quota came more than a few personal image issues. Nothing was suddenly magically alright.
He'd hoped to just avoid the torment and get through highschool so he could run away and leave everything behind, but now that the weight was off, Arthur came to gain much more attention than he could have imagined. He became popular. For what reason, he couldn't imagine. But as he spent time with people he was quick to realize that their interest in him was fleeting, the outward packing drawing them in only so they could spend the night together.
He quickly started to grow bitter and cynical, mistrust being raised at even the slightest sign of attention that is given to him even into his college life and adulthood. His relationships are usually short and fleeting, frequenting one night stands even though he desires for much more. But his mistrust of others usually causes him to end up running away and hiding for fear of resentment or betrayal. Not to mention the worries of the disaster of a family he left behind crawling back out of the dark...

Personality Kind hearted and cautious, Arthur is at first often apathetic and distant on the surface. But push past the exterior and he is empathetic and caring to a fault. When it comes to friendships he is beyond loyal and will do anything for the ones he holds close to his heart, even caving to help out his most toxic of exes in their times of need. Having been manipulated for years, he is extremely cautious of those he first meets and is frequently awkward and nervous. Despite his caution he frequently falls into his own traps and still has difficulty spotting bad people when they approach him -- so he holds everyone at an arms-length until he's sure.
When he relaxes around people he is very off-beat and energetic and lets his caution slip away, openly discussing whatever comes to mind with little to no care.
