She was one of the few survivors of the Planet Vegeta genocide. Part of Prince Vegeta's elite Squad only Shaya, the Prince Vegeta, Nappa, Raditz and Kakarot survived the explosion being off world at the time. For years Shaya would serve under the Tyrannical rule of the evil space Emperor known as Frieza along side her brother and comrades, before Raditz was sent to Earth to retrieve their younger brother in hopes of teaming up to take their overlord down. This did not go as expected when Raditz was killed on Earth by their younger brother and a Namekian named Piccolo. But before Raditz passed they were able to receive a communication about the dragon balls prompting them to go to Earth themselves to wish for their immortality in order to destroy Frieza, and they'd accomplish this by any means necessary.
