Story
Thousands of years ago in a kingdom whose name was been lost to history, Mark was born a peasant of no particular value or importance. Disillusioned with life, and angry at what he believed were royals doing nothing but abusing their power and taking advantage of the hard working villagers, he left the kingdom and wandered looking for something better. In his travels, he discovered an artifact that granted him magical powers to change the world. He returned to his former kingdom to uproot the royalty and give his home a better life. His magic gave him an army, and he stormed the castle. It didn't take long for it to fall. This was supposed to be the end of his personal crusade, but the soldiers who escaped ran to the neighboring villages warning of an evil wizard who'd taken control of the kingdom, and rebellions began against him. He redirected his efforts to squashing these rebellions to restore peace. Then the survivors fled nearby kingdoms telling of a demon marching a campaign of conquest across the land. Things spiraled out of control, and eventually the entire world was united against him. He wanted to stop, but too many had been killed already. As terrible as his crimes were, he couldn't stomach the thought of all this killing being done in vain. He would keep killing and lay the foundation of his new world as a flower on their graves. Well, as the stories tend to go, heroes rose up, fought back, and he was slain. His soul couldn't rest. He was too filled with grief and desire to repent. He offered himself to the will of the planet, to allow him to make things right. He now lives in a cycle of war. Arriving in times where the world is at risk, providing guidance and advice to the heroes of the time until things are set right, where he is then taken straight to the next conflict. Never knowing peace until the world no longer has need for war.
Abilities
Mark's former power is lost to him. He still possess an affinity for Dark Magic, but for the reasons above, avoids getting into fights himself. He carries a tome that contains a small fragment of his magic, a single use. He frequently uses it as a sketch book to record sights he finds comforting from the timelines he's visited for some sense of stability as he's flung continuously through time. His true talent is in military strategy. His entire life for the last 3,000 years has been nothing but war, the battlefield is an open book to him. The means of war change, but ends have all been done before.
